Okay, I want to revisit the deer rescue for anyone who has their own idea of how it went down and doesnt feel like asking me themselves. Ive heard about how how stupid my heroic attempt was one too many times. Let me clear a few things up: First of all no firemen or EMTs were put in any danger. They threw a rope down to me and I wrapped it around myself as they dragged me along the wall to free me from the current. One of my friends who was assisting me with the rescue for hours actually pulled me out. Secondly no I didnt jump in in an emotional state without thinking I climbed in where there was no current and swam to what appeared to be a safe area where the deer wasnt struggling to swim. We already had a rope around the deer and we found an obstacle. I swam to a line of buoys that we couldnt get the deer past. I was watching the deer I spent hours trying to rescue begin to finally die right in front of me from exhaustion I wanted to lift the buoys and just get her to the land where we could have pulled her out. When I got to the buoeys I got caught up in an under current. And one last thing. There were children and families standing around watching this shit go down for FIVE HOURS before I decided to do something. Police were called and they refused to do anything. A mercy kill would have been ideal. Children are taught that cops are heroes and but there were no heroes at all for this poor deer. It suffered for hours and hours and died a slow painful death. It died right before I was able to rescue it and I had to let it go and watch it float away after all of that. What I did was not stupid. I did what I felt in my heart was right. I knew even if there could be some invisible current I wasnt going past those buoys. Whoever thinks im an idiot is entitled to their opinion but Im tired of people I know passing their judgement and they never ask me. I have to explain this shit later on and it pisses me off.
