Okay, my Saturday night rant: I know who I am. I am Johnny Smalltown sports radio guy. I get that. I understand that. To you two guys who broadcast the Marion games, you are exactly the same as I. However, where we differ is the fact that myself and broadcast partner Ryan Roddy always extend professional courtesy to our fellow small hilljack town announcers. For whatever reason, you, my Marion counterparts, do not. Case in point: tonight at the Salem Tournament. Rather than clear out of the way after your team won the consolation title (congrats to Shane Hawkins by the way), you decided that the 15 minutes put on the clock before the championship just was not enough time to wrap your game. No, instead you finish your broadcast with about four minutes left in the first quarter while we try to call the game from one of the shittiest vantage points possible. But that was not good enough. Then you decide to methodically pack all of your equipment and of course, why not go ahead and eat something before you head back out of town? Its every year you play in front of us. And I mean every single year. Have the professional courtesy to do the right thing. Quick postgame, pack up and move out so that we can do the CHAMPIONSHIP game from one of the few decent sightlines in B.E. Gum Gym. We certainly would do it for you.
