On 10 November 1775 Captain Samuel Nicholas was commissioned to raise two battalions of Marines in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since our storied conception 239 years ago, the United States Marine Corps has answered our Nations call to arms, ...in every clime and place. In 1957, a skinny kid just shy of his 18th birthday boarded a train in Newark, NJ and traveled to Yemassee, SC. Upon arrival he took his seat on a bus which carried him aboard MCRD Parris Island. Dads legacy has spanned almost 60 years and has included my brother Jack Knochel , my son, Richie Knochel, and yours truly. Thank-you Aaron Torres, Kevin HassleHoff Hoffman, Matt Colangelo, and Erik Rich Rosell for serving our Corps during these uncertain times.
