On 12/3/2014 at approximately 8:30pm, COMMIT Detectives attempted to make contact with a suspect that was wanted on an arrest warrant for Attempted Murder. The Detectives located the suspect in the parking area near the Popeye’s Chicken near Circle and Verde. One Detective parked in front of the suspect vehicle and another Detective parked behind the suspect vehicle. The COMMIT Detective in front of the suspect vehicle exited his vehicle and ordered the suspect to exit her vehicle. The suspect backed her car up and then drove forward ramming the police vehicle causing major damage to the vehicle. After she pushed the police vehicle out of the way she fled the area. The Detective that was standing next to the suspect vehicle and his police vehicle was able to get out of the way but did fear that his vehicle was going to be pushed into him as the suspect tried to flee the area.. The Detective that was behind the suspect vehicle was able to pursue the suspect, who attempted to elude Detectives and Officers involved in a pursuit. The suspect lost control of her vehicle and struck an unoccupied legally parked vehicle near Alvarado and Verde Dr. A passenger in the suspect vehicle complied with orders to exit the vehicle and was cooperative. The suspect refused to exit the vehicle and was given several canine warnings to surrender. Due to her violent actions Officer Bauer deployed canine Rico to remove the suspect from her vehicle. Canine Rico made contact with the suspect and gave Detectives and Officers an opportunity to safely move up to the vehicle and arrest the suspect. The suspect received medical attention for the K-9 contact and injuries received in the vehicle crash. The suspect faces felony charges for her actions in addition to the original warrant for attempted murder.
