On December 18, 2013, Zulfiqar Bhatti - 22, club cricketer, passed away after a fatal incident on the field during the Begum Khursheed Memorial T20 tournament in Sukkur. Bhatti while batting tried to pull a rising ball but failed to connect, which hit him on the chest. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. Bhattis brother Ali Asad had to endure seeing all this as he was the captain of their side. The Sukkur district administration suspended sports activities throughout Sukkur district for three days as condolence. Bhatti was laid to rest in his native graveyard at Dargah Bedil Bekas. Seconds before collapsing, he signaled that he was fine. He was immediately taken to a hospital where he was put on ventilator and doctors made every attempt to revive him, but it seems like he had breathed his last on the pitch.
