On January 1st, 2002, I watched one of the most brilliant men in the world die. He meant to die, he did not mean to commit suicide. I have died every day since then. In my mind I have held him. I have stopped him. I have run to him before he even felt unhappy and hit him in the head. I have prevented his death every way to Sunday. Sunday always comes. We cannot judge or demean or demand an answer as to why Robin Williams decided to do what he chose to do. Nor should we even pose a suggestion as to what went though his mind. It is not our business. Until you can clearly state what is going through your mind, you dont get to say what went through someone elses. None of you, Facebook Friends, are capable of doing that. Youre not that honest. Even the best of you. But this is what we can do: we can surround ourselves with good people, people who respect us and love us and care greatly. You can choose what that respect/love/care looks like. For me, its a clear boundary. Party crashers, name-droppers and mewling fakes can go to hell. But to our dear Mr. Williams and all of your suicide comrades, regret nothing – you must forgive yourselves for unforgivable deeds – you must rest. You must have peace. I hate that you never had that when you took a breath. If I could have, Id have told you that youll never be happy but you can be honest. You simply have to shove the twats in white maxis dresses out of the way. This is why I am off Facebook for a bit. Ive amazing people in my life but they are mostly offline. If they arent offline, theyll be okay finding me there. So... much love, take care of yourself and stop trying to be happy. Happy isnt the goal, being honest and living with integrity is the goal. Its painful and its hard but when you meet your end, you wont be meeting it with social vultures circling your death bed. r.i.p. williams. Long live laughter.
