On July 2, 1964, a grassroots movement by millions of people succeeded in passing the Civil Rights Act into law. As we remember the 50 years since this monumental achievement, we must never forget that the struggle for gender, racial, and social equality is far from over. Now more than ever, we must continue the work of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the generations of men and women, young and old, who struggled, bled, and died for the day when all people would be treated equally. In the words of Sam Cooke: Its been a long, long time coming. But I know a change is gon come. Oh, YES IT WILL.
