On September 11, 2001 Firefighter Stephen Siller left his car in gridlocked traffic to run from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers to assist his Brothers in their heroic rescue efforts. He ran with 60 pounds of firefighting gear slung over his back. Stephen died that day, along with 342 other firefighters, as well as thousands of civilians and other emergency workers. The Tunnel to Towers Run/Walk funds the Stephen Siller Foundation, providing financial assistance across many fronts, especially supporting orphaned and underprivileged children. I am running on the Orio Palmer Tunnel to Towers team, in honor of Deputy Chief Orio J. Palmer, who also gave his life that day. Orio was the husband of my wife Katie s cousin Debbie. He was an amazing man...an inspiration, a mentor and shining example to so many. Tonight as I raised our flag from half-staff to full, then lowered it completely, my thoughts went back to that day and the raw emotions that we all felt. I will never forget the sacrifice of our heroes in New York. Please consider a donation to a truly worthy foundation in honor of those who gave all. Thank you and God Bless.
