On Thursday, January 8 at 7pm, REEL NEW MEXICO will present Mother OKeeffe, narrated by former New Mexico resident, Marsha Mason and produced and directed by El Dorado resident, Richard Startzman, who will be our special guest. This film is one hour long and was released in 2007 and offers a very different look at artist Georgia OKeeffe. Controversy and an art history mystery are at the heart of this documentary about Georgia OKeeffe. Mother OKeeffe - The Other Georgia OKeeffe movie examines the theory that the Canyon Suite, a famed series of watercolors, wasnt the work of OKeeffe. Instead, her foster son and protégé, a young Hispanic boy at the time of the paintings creation, may be responsible for these celebrated works. We will also screen a historical short film, THE FLYING PADRE, shot in eastern New Mexico by famed director, Stanley Kubrick. Additionally, guests are now able to order and bring food and drink from La Plancha and enjoy it in the Performance Space, offering a casual dinner and a movie type event. Admission discount for non Eldorado residents! The $5 suggested donation/admission at the door will go for expenses and to bring in filmmakers for other screenings.
