On a lighter note... there is the Potato Salad - TopicsExpress

On a lighter note... there is the Potato Salad Kickstarter. Started as a light hearted satire asking for ten bucks to make a potato salad, the project has now swelled to over 40,000 USD in support. But its now raising serious questions in the crowd funding community. Creator Zack Brown has now added many additional stretch goals, including publishing a recipe book - Potato Salads of the World - with a salad variation from every country in which he has a backer. As a $2 goal, Zack had promised to say the names of backers out loud while making the salad. This is currently sitting at 743 backers, meaning making the salad will be somewhat inhibited by reading the list aloud. What do you think this satirical success means for the crowd funding community? Is this just Andy Warhols Campbells soup can for a digital age? Asked on Twitter, founder of NZ crowd funding engine Pledge Me stated that: Were not grant admins or god in deciding what a good @pledgeme project is. As long as its legal - we let the crowd decide https://internet.org.nz
