On a personal note, the Southern University Marching Band has been blessed for decades in that we have produced some of the finest graduates and bandsmen in America. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Professsor Johnny Lee Lane who has pioneered a relationship with Remo, Zildjian and Vic Firth. These companies are Giants in the Percussion World. Although these deals were sealed by Professor Lane before I became a student at SU, his legacy and contributions are greatly appreciated by many decades of SU Human Jukebox Members. Personally, I feel Professor Lane has never got his just due and I want him to know that we do not take him for granted. Professor Lane is a GIANT, not only in the HBCU world, but among collegiate and professional percussionist nationally and internationally. I am proud to say that hes from SU!! Thank you Professor Johnny Lee Lane!!!
