On his radio show today, Michael Medved revealed that suicides in the United States have nearly doubled since 2008, while murder has been cut almost in half. We can speculate about this, and some of the reasons as to why this is happening are obvious, but I would like to submit something I think is primary causality. The pressure is on from atheistic groups, leftists, and even federal and local governments to denounce any beliefs in a higher power, in anyone greater than ourselves. The idea of God is becoming old hat and just plain mysticism to many people in our country; some call it superstition. So, if people believe that life happened just by chance, the right rocks and liquids and lightning bolts came together in just the right way, and so forth and so on, that what are we but a mere collection of cells, with no real value other than what society and man made laws give us? If someone is already on a downer, and they think their life has no meaning beyond consensus and the census, what does it matter if that common life unit is snuffed out? The left believes that tears should be ignored until there is no more need for tears. I believe that every tear should be valued separately. What say you, my friends.
