On the 2nd of July 1776 a group of elitist liberals decided to revolt against the most powerful nation on earth. They were treasonists and would have been hung has they failed. Instead they won the war (one of the few that needed to be faught) and we became the United States of America. But the story doesnt end there. Our first try at making a new nation was a failure. We were governed by the Articles of Confederation. It was an attempt at a limited federal government. Instead we got an inefficient government based on states rights. Then they decided to come together and wrote our Constitution. It is not perfect, nor the inspired word of "God". It is a living breathing document that binds all Americans together. America is a place of diversity, tolerance, and understanding.
