On this date, November 14, 1983, The Elvis Brothers played the last of two nights at the Palace Theater in LA with Big Country. Last nights show went great despite an annoying audience member who was also in San Francisco but I remedied that at the end of our show. Tonight, happily, he wasnt there. He was probably washing the orange juice out of his hair and clothes. The second night, we had another great show and afterwards I was excited to be praised by Pat Benatars drummer Myron Grombacher and Quiet Riots drummer, Frankie Banali. They were going on and on about me in front of Big Countrys drummer Mark Brzezicki who didnt seem to pleased about it. He was also one of the mopey members in Big Country (more on him later). Not long after our LA show, a few months later, there was a new Pat Benatar video and Myron was standing up playing a big kick drum wearing suspenders and 50s pleated pants, etc. There was also a new Quiet Riot video (one that I never saw much) and Frankie had a green sparkle kick drum with blonde hoops. Ive waited 31 years to mention that! : ) So, all was good, we were on a high and tomorrow we have a day off to drive to the 6th date (the 8th show) on the Big Country tour. Oddly enough, we never played in LA again. Just the way life and the touring cards fell. Its a shame because we did so well those two nights. Ive played that venue twice since then in the past ten years with The Romantics and I really did take time to look around, reminisce and visualize The Elvis Brothers playing there. Though, I didnt pour orange juice on anyone.
