On this day (Jan. 21) in 1968: Jimi Hendrix recorded several takes of the basic track for his version of the Bob Dylan song All Along the Watchtower at Olympic Studios in London; Rolling Stone Brian Jones & Dave Mason from Traffic (on bass) both played on the session; for the final version released as a single & on the Electric Ladyland album later in the year, Jimi added overdubs & re-recording the bass line, although borrowing heavily from what Dave Mason had laid down… from Roch Parisiens Rocon Communications
