On this day in Kansas City sports history, for Oct 13th in 1924- Babe Ruth belted the longest home run ever hit at a minor league park during a Mercy Hospital benefit game at Muehlebach Field in Kansas City. 1929- the Kansas City Blues won the Little World Series, 5 games to 3, plus one tie, beating Rochester, in the final game 6-5 in 11 innings. 1935- Satchel Paige pitcher for the KC Monarchs won 6-0 in an exhibition game in Kansas City against an all-star team of heroes of the 1935 World Series, including Tommy Bridges, Charles Gehringer and Schoolboy Rowe. 1946- the Satchel Paige All Stars beat the Bob Feller All Stars at Blues Stadium in KC. 1963- the Chiefs beat the Houston Oilers 28-7 in the first regular season game at Municipal Stadium with Len Dawson throwing the first TD pass to Fred Arbanas. 1976- the Royals beat New York at Yankee Stadium in Game 4 the ALCS, by 7-4. 1984- the original artificial turf is pulled out of Royals Stadium to replace it with natural grass for next season. 1985- the Royals beat the Blue Jays 2-0 in Game 5 of the ALCS at Royals Stadium with Royals pitcher Danny Jackson getting the shutout on eight hits. 1991- Linebacker Chis Martin of the Chiefs returns a fumble 101 yards for club record and touchdown to help beat the Miami Dolphins 42-7 at Arrowhead. 2007- the Sprint Center opens. 2013- a Guinness World Record is set for the loudest crowd at an outdoor stadium at 137.5 decibels at Arrowhead Stadium and another record of the most planes in a stadium fly-over at 49, as the Chiefs beat the Oakland Raiders 24 to 7 for a loud and proud crowd of 76,394. The Chiefs sacked Terrelle Pryor, Raiders Quarterback 10 times. The Raiders faced pressure from the crowd and Chiefs defense with an amazing 3rd down and 48 yards for a first down during the game!
