On this day, one year ago, my Father was laying in his bed, alone - TopicsExpress

On this day, one year ago, my Father was laying in his bed, alone at the Nursing home..and he decided that he was going home to be Jesus. He told this to me at lunchtime and he was gone at 5:00. I have never met a greater man of Love, compassion and unique way to help you find out your path towards Jesus. He loved his wife, his sons, his grandkids and daughters-in-love. He was a lover of people. If you spent 5 minutes with him, youd begin to like him... If he spent an hour with you began to love him...but if you ate meal, played a round of golf or sat on stage talking with Dad for any extended period of time. You would follow him. I still do. He was my Dad, my Bishop and my Pastor, but most importantly he was my friend. What I lost this past year is irreplaceable, but what he has left for all those who knew Bishop, is valuable and priceless. He grew up in Samson, Alabama and did pick cotton as a little boy ( Ive grown up hearing those cotton pickin stories all my life)...his family was poor but his richness came from his Mother and brothers and sisters whom he loved with all of his heart growing up in a small rural Alabama town. And lets not forget his greatest love JUne Elizabeth Fout Thorne,,,she was his balance, she was his helpmate, she was what made Dad happy and come home at night, He truly loved that woman. He was a family man...a big family from Abundant Life Church and those wonderful people who came through and some stayed through..he imparted his life for hours to them and sometimes days ministering to hurting families, hurting Pastors and was an innovator in Life Counseling ministry that has saved literally hundreds if not thousands of peoples lives. One last thing to remember about my Dad is if he ever spoke wisdom to you, remember it, it may save your marriage or save your childrens life or even your ministry. We lost a Giant of a spirit man...I remember during this Gulfstream revival, certain Pastors came into his office and they were just in awe at what he accomplished during his time as the Pastor. They even referred to an APostle anointing over the House. Amen. Dad, you were the greatest and I will never forget your legacy and the vision you instilled in us, I will honor you by continuing that vision as well as others continue to carry the torches lit from him. Your words are immortal and your life a gleaming example on how to live a Faith life...and we will NOT let you down, w/ Bumps in the road, yeah..but you said if God has something for you to do Satan will do everything he can to stop you.He comes an Angel of light and not a Lion...you are a Lion, be afraid of no one or nothing that tries to stop Gods promises. Just do what God says do and he will provide everything you need to complete...for the just shall walk by Faith! I love you Dad.. have fun in heaven I imagine you and brother Ken are teaching Uncle Lorraine to play Golf and Meemaw is cooking buttermilk bisquits with red eye grease and...banana pudding all the while I believe your relationship PaPaw is amazing. I miss you Bishop, but your footprints are still here. I love you and will always revere this day, I miss you Pops. One more thing...thanks for the golf clubs they are unreal! I love you Dad. :)
