On this special day, I always like to share the story of an amazing father - his name was István and he was my Grandfather. Its amazing how Fathers can overcome amazing obstacles to get to their children. My Grandfather was taken away from his family in Hungary during World War II and sent to a concentration camp in Poland. Miraculously, he survived - in fact, he was 1 out of 3 men in his entire battalion to survive. Once the war was over, he knew he had to make it back to his family and his little boy (my father). My Grandfather began the long walk (yes he walked!) home from Poland all the way to Hungary while suffering from typhoid fever. My Mom once asked him how he had the strength to make it after being subjected to life in concentration camp and having sickness. He said that he knew he had to make it back to his son and then he would smile and say did you know you can sleep and walk at the same time? On this day I would like to honor István and my father, who passed away 11 years ago
