Once again, within a larger story about the Al Aqsa Mosque/Temple - TopicsExpress

Once again, within a larger story about the Al Aqsa Mosque/Temple Mount are the usual gratuitous statements that Israel seized the compound from Jordan in the 1967 war along with the rest of East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Israel then annexed East Jerusalem in a move that was never internationally recognized. Jordans attempt to destroy the Jewish state in 1948 was a violation of international law. Jordans seizure of Judea and Samaria was also a violation of international law, and its annexation of that territory in 1950 was recognized by only one nation, Britain, which means that it was also never internationally recognized, although the PLO did acknowledge Jordanian sovereignty in 1964. The West Bank was never legally Jordanian territory, so it is incorrect to refer to it as having been seized by Israel from Jordan. Up until Jordans illegal capture of the territory in 1949, Jerusalem was a unified city. There was no Arab East Jerusalem, and the land certainly had not been the West Bank of Jordan, as it has come to be known. Israel re-captured the land, or regained control of the land, but it clearly did not seize it from Jordan. One might be tempted to say that Israel seized it from the Palestinians in 1967, but as the PLO Charter of 1964 makes perfectly clear, they did not make any claims to sovereignty on that land, which may explain why there was no international condemnation when Jordan illegally annexed it.
