Once upon a time when the well known union of the primary sector was organizing press conferences , teachers were watching these with interest , enthusiasm , sincerity and ardor .Those were the days when press conferences had elements to be discussed , materials to be debated , content to be exposed .The executive members commanded respect .That was the time when executive members were visiting schools regularly , they were taking their time-offs every week because time-off is a trade union right .Teachers in schools could identify their representatives .For example Guness was the Amitabh Bachan of the east .Every one in Moka and Flacq knew Guness.The same applies for the Central Plateau regions .My friend Gassen ( though to-day is in the opposite camp) was a hard worker , a tough fighter for the cause for teachers .That was the time when there was trade union proximity between the executive council and schools .And in those days when the trade unionists were visiting schools , the whole school would flow in to listen to Lolbeeharry , Gassen , Baichoo , Gungaram , Nazirkhan and others .No one of that generation had convinced Lollbeeharry to fight to have a std 5 class to the detriment of class fellows.And Lollbeeharry would never go to zones to fight for one executive member and thereby turning all the school against the union.that generation of trade unionist belongs to the past.
