One last comment on our visit to Vegas. The folks at the pawn shop - TopicsExpress

One last comment on our visit to Vegas. The folks at the pawn shop often consult with Rebecca Romney, manager of Baumans Rare Books. Lynn and I thought it would be fun to see what her store was like, so we found it in the shops between Palazzo and The Venetian (not sure which its in). The really rare books were behind glass. A few that I noted (all FIRST EDITIONS!): Benjamin Franklins Poor Richards Almanac and also his Experiments in Electricity; Charles Darwin, Origin of the Species (American edition); Dr. Seuss, Cat in the Hat; Margaret Mitchell, Gone with the Wind; Mark Twain, Huckleberry Finn; Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol; Harriet Beecher Stowe, Uncle Toms Cabin; and Mary Shelley, Frankenstein. All of those were $8,500 to $30,000. The most expensive book in the store was first edition The Call of the Wild by Jack London. In its original dust jacket and inscribed to his mother. $125,000. To those who enjoy investing in first edition books, what a wonderful shop to visit. Thousands of other volumes!
