One of my favorite books is H.G. Wells The Time Machine. So much can be learned from that prophetic book. Tonight I am watching the 2002 screen adaptation (which I had never seen before) and as I saw The Professor go back in time to try and save the love of his life on the night she died, she ends up dying anyway...in a different way. In my crazy mind in these four weeks, I have repeatedly thought of this exact thing. What would have happened if I had taken different precautions so he couldnt get through the gate. What would have happened if wed never gone to Texas at all. What would have happened if I had wrapped him in bubble wrap and chained him to his bed. Would his fate have been the same? Would he still have been taken when he was taken? I really dont know, but I feel the same anguish that The Professor feels. What if.
