One of the best Telugu short films I have watched in recent times. - TopicsExpress

One of the best Telugu short films I have watched in recent times. A week back I felt, why we are Telugu people are not making shorts films in different genres. Our feature films have becoming formulaic, so are the short films with one beautiful girl and few love tit-bits making up to a short film. Here is an answer from Vinod Anantoju. This film is a psychological drama mixed with a horror element in it. Earlier Vinod made two short films SUNYAM and OKA MARANAM both are important in his growing up as a short filmmaker. And MAGATHA surely is the next level. In terms of shots, sound design, extracting performances from actors and writing are impressive. Though the filmmaker says, its marked departure from his earlier genres. In spite of agreeing to his belief, I must also say that all his three films are marked by a thread that is metaphysical emptiness in urban spaces. First film Sunyam deals with inner search of a filmmaker. Second,Oka maranam questions urban apathy and third one Magatha takes urban apathy to next level of crime. In all the three filmmaker kept questioning human consciousness. He seem to have found few answers and leaves audience to find some more for themselves. So far Vinod Anantoju was a film make to look out for. But with MAGATHA, he has arrived. He made his point. And made it well. Congratulations to the entire team of VARNA. * Watch the film with your head phones on for better experience.
