One of the biggest mistakes Christians make is to start with Christ and the gospel and then try to move on to deeper things. But Paul kept preaching the gospel to those who were already converted to Christ and the reason why he did this is because he knew the key to spiritual growth is the same as the key to our salvation: Christ crucified. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2: 6
