One of the most dangerous things we Christians tend to do, is get involved in relationships that reflect the cares of the world, instead of the mandate of the gospel. You know what I’m talking about. That “I’m going to Heaven, but not until I show the world my bling-bling first” attitude. At the judgment seat of Christ, believers will be rewarded based on how faithfully they served Christ here on earth - not themselves. So don’t get me wrong. I’m not advocating a poverty spirit - yet on the contrary, I’m encouraging a self-less spirit. As some things we might be judged on, is how well we obeyed the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), how much we overcame sin (Romans 6:1-4), and how well we disciplined our tongues (James 3:1-9) - whether single, married, divorced, or widowed.
