One year ago TODAY, I left everything I knew to be real: My career, my home, my family, my salary, my reputation, my audience, my church; EVERYTHING, in order to fulfill what I felt was Gods leading for me to impact the world and change the face of entertainment. On October 3rd, 2013 I move to LA to do just that. From the 2nd day I landed here, boxes not yet unpacked, I was working on set with Vanessa Simmons and since then (good) opportunities have been presented, many I couldnt have dreamed of. Things like, interviewing Ice Cube, Ludacris and India Arie. Ive rubbed shoulders with Chris Brownown and skated along side Justin Beiber. Ive worked as assistant Stylist for Brandy and being invited into her walk in closet to dress her -- even having her and Megan Good engaging a friendly debate on who met me first. Ive been on almost every major red carpet, had Omarosa tell me, I know who you are, had my round glasses taken by india.arie, Donnie McClurkin, and Malaysia Pargo, all in good fun. Ive been on a game show (won some money too), worked with some great writing partners to create then sell television shows to networks, Ive worked as a photographer for LA fashion week and many of LAs international designers. Ive done a season as a radio producer and host and a bevy of other things in between -- all in a years time. NONE of this couldve been done had I not had the courage to obey when I was instructed that NOW was the time to leave. You will NEVER get whats yours remaining in a season or place youve outgrown. I have not punched a corporate clock since September 12, 2013 and God has sustained me. I made it one year in the belly of this beast and Im excited to see what this next year will bring.
