Only IF….. The poverty of our century is unlike that of any other. It is not, as poverty was before, the result of natural scarcity, but of a set of priorities imposed upon the rest of the world by the rich. Consequently, the modern poor are not pitied...but written off as trash. The twentieth-century consumer economy has produced the first culture for which a beggar is a reminder of nothing. We can still reduce our poverty level, -If we can cut down on the huge salary we give to the legislators. -If we can cut down on waste, less PA’s in our government offices -If we can cut down on foreign travels. -If only we can cut down beurocarcy from the top -If only we can educate our children on eradicating poverty: to save for the future -If our local Government can provide basic need for their communities; No more generators, water scarcity etc… Good security… -If only we can work together to provide social care to the unemployed Nigeria.[FSN Orientation Week] fabiansocietyng
