Our Celtic and Medieval Music ensemble, Tír na mBeo, will be - TopicsExpress

Our Celtic and Medieval Music ensemble, Tír na mBeo, will be performing a Christmas concert of songs of Britain and Ireland, in Paris, France, on 16th. December! Though Tír na mBeo sometimes works as a trio, we will offer this concert as a duet. In this concert, we will perform songs from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland in English, Scots Gaelic, Welsh and Irish. These songs are all seasonal songs, but they are extremely varied in the vision of Christmas they present: some are religious (songs to the Virgin, or about the birth of Jesus), some betray the British Isles/Irelands pre-Christian origins, in presenting such traditions as the wassailing traditions of England and Wales, the Wren in Ireland and Wales, and songs coming from the mumming (Christmas plays) traditions. We gave this same concert in Saint-Cloud, Paris region, France, last year, and it was a great success. It is a peaceful, cozy wintry one. Tír na mBeo are Rachel Méegens: fiddle, viola and Medival fiddles, and Batsheva: singing, tin whistle and Shruti Box (accordion type instrument from India). Free to get in, but as this is a restaurant, we get paid on how much people eat and drink. So do come, and eat and drink loads! :.) In the meanwhile, see an extract from our concert below. This is an Irish Christmas carol talking about the birth of Christ. Do enjoy, and as usual, if you enjoy it, feel free to go on Youtube and like or comment on the video there! And see you on 16th. December in Paris, France! :.) https://youtube/watch?v=4q9uPJhg7wM
