Our Kenjutsu Kihon Bushinden Kai was held the Saturday just passed. The express aim was to give an introduction to the fundamentals of Japanese swords ( Ken,Tachi,Katana ),some function/technique,characteristics,culture,history and etiquette. My practice of Kenjutsu is from the Bujinkan Dojo and therefore this seminar was ( like the ones proceeding it ) to help students see the necessity of Taijutsu training to form the base of all our weapon handling. I am definitely not a master of the sword but did my best to transmit what I remembered from my training in Japan to the students of Bujinkan Tasmana. Everyone practiced well together with the essential heart and spirit of Shoshin-sha ( beginning minds ). Thank you to everyone who attended. See you next month for Jutte-jutsu!
