Our Mining Division has donated more than 1,700 personal protective work shirts and other items to local people living near the Jwaneng open-cut diamond mine in Botswana. Local people there are frequently working in open areas and close to high traffic areas – and so the PPE will help them to be highly visible, as well as offering some level of protection. Young people from Jwaneng and surrounding villages were employed to help with the receiving, unpacking, sorting and repacking of the protective garments over a three month period. These young people not only gained a vital income but enhanced their work readiness skills, including the completion of workplace health and safety training. bit.ly/1v1iYoC
