Our great fall line-up of theatre arts classes kicks off this week, starting with our ACT I, ACT II, and RISING STARS classes tomorrow at LaFortune Community Center! If you are already enrolled in on our our workshops, we are looking forward to seeing you soon! If you arent enrolled yet, there is still time. Spots are still available in all these programs. We ask that you please take the time to share this information with friends, family, or co-workers who might be interested. We are excited about sharing our passion for the theatre arts with more families in the Tulsa area! If you already have a child enrolled in our LaFortune classes OR one of our after-school workshps, please share this information with the parents of his or her friends! Heres whats coming up this fall: Act I and Act II - Acting for ages 9-18 Lafortune Community Center Designed for young theatre artists ages 9 to 18 who are truly passionate about developing their skills and increasing their knowledge about the ancient art of acting and taught by Ginny Sain, a professional theatrical director and teacher with 20 years of experience working with young people. Ginny’s former students have gone on to gain admission to some of the most prestigious university theatre programs and professional training programs in the country and are now attending colleges and theatre schools, enjoying internships, and working professionally in Chicago, LA, St. Louis, New York City, Dallas, Orlando, Minneapolis, London, and many other exciting locations. ACT I: Ages 9-12, Tuesdays, 6pm to 7pm, September 2nd-December 16th, $55 per month or $200 fee when paying for the whole semester up-front Students in the ACT I class are introduced to the intensive study of acting, the exploration of many different acting techniques, play reading, script and character analysis, improvisation, vocal and physical training, theatre history, theatre vocabulary, theatre etiquette, play writing, and much more. Program ends with a final showcase for friends and family! ACT II: Ages 13-18, Tuesdays, 6pm to 7pm, September 2nd-December 16th, $55 per month or $200 fee when paying for the whole semester up-front Students in the ACT II class are introduced to the intensive study of acting, the exploration of many different acting techniques, play reading, script and character analysis, improvisation, vocal and physical training, theatre history, theatre vocabulary, theatre etiquette, play writing, and much more. In addition, they will be getting important information and insights into audition tips and techniques, preparing theatrical resumes and head shots, choosing a university theatre program and getting a theatre scholarship, and the “business” side of working in theatre. The program will end with a special showcase for friends and family. Musical Theatre Lafortune Community Center Ages 10-18, Mondays, 6:45pm to 8:15pm, September 8th-December 15th, $60 per month or $220 fee when paying for the whole semester up-front Give your regards to Broadway with this fun-filled class that combines acting and singing! Students will enjoy an in-depth journey into the art of Broadway-style musical theatre performance; including, vocal technique and coaching, song interpretation, character analysis, professional performance technique, staging and movement, Broadway history, and much more! Program ends with a final showcase for family and friends at the end of the semester! Taught by Ginny Sain, a professional theatrical director and teacher with 20 years of experience working with young people. Ginny’s former students have gone on to gain admission to some of the most prestigious university theatre programs and professional training programs in the country and are now attending colleges and theatre schools, enjoying internships, and working professionally in Chicago, LA, St. Louis, New York City, Dallas, Orlando, Minneapolis, London, and many other exciting locations. Rising Stars - Acting for ages 5-8 LaFortune Community Center Ages 5-8, Tuesdays, 5:15pm to 6pm, September 2nd-December 16th, $40 per month or $140 fee when paying for the whole semester up-front. Designed especially to nurture the creative and playful spirit of your young performer while teaching fundamental stage skills and theatre appreciation, this fun-filled workshop is an active, exciting, and welcoming introduction into the theatre arts! Using classic and current children’s literature and poetry as a framework, students will build foundational acting skills and theatre vocabulary by dramatizing a variety of stories, participating in improv games, and exploring verbal and physical expression. Each week emphasizes a new theatre skill while featuring group participation and character exploration. Family and friends are invited to a Sharing Day on the final class day. We also have an open-enrollment after-school workshop coming up at EISENHOWER INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL. This workshop begins on Tuesday, September 9th and runs after school on Tuesdays all semester. Anyone in grades 1 - 5 is welcome to enroll in this workshop. You do not have to be enrolled at Eisenhower. Homeschoolers as well as students at other public and private schools are welcome to register! SONGS AND STAGES at Eisenhower International School An After-School Acting and Musical Theatre Workshop Students in this dynamic and exciting semester-long workshop meet once a week to explore the magic of acting AND musical theatre! Overthe course of the semester, kids will participate in theatre and improvisation games, receive solid instruction in fundamental acting and singing technique, rehearse acting scenes from classic theatrical literature and musical numbers from smash Broadway musicals, and enjoy activities specially designed to boost creativity, stretch the imagination, promote confidence, develop public speaking abilities, encourage individual responsibility and teamwork, and foster a life-long love of and appreciation for the arts. Parents will be invited to join us for a special showcase performance of scenes and musical numbers during our last class session!
