Our last training run prior to Conconully was yesterday. I was not sure what I was going to do. I was prepared to run a couple of 4 dog teams if it was very icy. We arrived to find the snow a bit crunch, fast, but not icy. The Tango Watson loop had been groomed the previous day so I decided to do that run as it is the closest thing I have there to what we will be running on this weekend. Not sure if there is quite as much elevation gain as at Conconully....this run has 2000 feet in 16.5 miles. Anyway the groomed portion was lovely. Our final climb and descent down most of Tango Creek was ungroomed but fine. It was a nice run, temperatures in the upper 20s. It is going to be much warmer this weekend which is less favorable for my team, particularly Cola who is one of my stalwart performers who is at his best when it is cold. But we will run the race at his pace, as they say you are as fast as your slowest dog. But he is such an incredible performer, so strong on the hills, I am very willing to do that. So here is what our last run looked like: https://youtube/watch?v=hJN9CKwUvk4
