Over 40pc Afghans acquired Pak CNICs illegally: PHC CJ July 03, 2013 OUR STAFF REPORTER 0 PESHAWAR - Chief Justice Peshawar High Court, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, has said that hundreds of illegal Afghan immigrants cross Torkham border without any obstacle because they grease the palm of officials concerned. It is our misfortune that more than 40 per cent Afghan immigrants have acquired Pakistans computerised national identity cards illegally and on the basis of CNICs have bought houses and land properties at Canal Road and Board Bazaar Peshawar, the chief justice remarked while hearing a writ petition filed by a student against the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for blocking his ID card. The division bench comprised Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Qaiser Rashid. The petitioner complained that NADRA officials concerned had blocked his CNIC without giving any reason, due to which he was confronting numerous difficulties. He, in the writ petition, also claimed that his all family members have CNICs but despite that officials blocked his card. He prayed to the court to issue directives to the officials concerned to unblock his ID card as per rules. The Chief Justice also observed that despite the deployment of a huge contingent of officials of various departments at Torkham boarder, daily hundreds of illegal Afghan refugees were crossing board without confronting any obstacle, as these illegal immigrants grease the palm of the officials, he maintained. These illegal refugees were bought land properties, houses, shops and business entities even in the provincial metropolis Peshawar, he said which is the misfortune of this nation. The chief justice ordered the NADRA officials concerned to complete an inquiry into the case within a month and resolve the complaint of the stated person. The Nation 03 July 2013.
