Over the last couple of months I have come to detest this image; the poor victim in the orange jumpsuit and the menacing bastard dressed like some avenging ninja. When we started airstrikes on Monday, Mr Hennings fate was sealed. My thoughts are with his family and friends and I cannot imagine how they will cope with this. This is the vilest form of terror, beheading an innocent aid worker and circulating a video. I am aware that using the image in my response could be seen as furthering the cause of the bastards and spreading the terror message and for that I apologise. But I do wonder whether our foreign policy is actually working. An Iraq that is STILL f**ked up. An Afghanistan that hasnt settled either. Part of me says these people have been killing each other for millennia, so leave them to it. Water finds its own level. So will the middle east. Its not for us to go looking for gas with a lit match as the worlds wrong righters... Not our circus, not our monkeys. And part of me... Well, you dont want to hear from that part of me. Because then these bastards will have won and the cycle would continue. RIP Alan. You tried to build bridges and act in a humane way and fell foul of a geopolitical failure. I salute your courage and humanity. God bless.
