Over the last ten years, Sri Lanka has undergone dramatic upheavals - the ravages of decades of civil war, compounded by the devastation of the 2005 Tsunami leaving the country reeling. In recent times, the country is taking steps towards reconciliation and healing while rebuilding the community and social structures destroyed by violence and natural disaster. Christianity in Sri Lanka dates from the time of the Apostle Thomas who visited the island. Today the Catholic Church is playing a huge role in building social cohesion and in providing leadership and community services, in the name of Our Lord. Thanks to our benefactors. ACN is helping to rebuild churches and communities and also acting as mediator between different ethnic groups and faiths on the island to foster dialogue and peace.
