Owas Ray Mwape Writes: My fellow artists never go to a gun fight namalegeni(culterpults) ,I keep echoing to my fellow artists that strategy is wat is key.I have studied the NAC act and remember I was the architect of the last petition but tell you Wat?we were not issue based and non factual. 1.A petition has to have facts which we never had but based everything on ear say. 2.For as long as most artists are not paid up members of their respectful associations breaking in with petition is hard rock,each member on council represents an association so all decisions are collective. 3.Mulenga has had only 2 terms and not 14 years again here when we lie to pipo we risk the petitions strength. 4.The president directed hon minister to dissolve council last year in November so the current council is there as care taker to avoid the gap and mishap that occured after mumba kapumpa left. 5.Round table is key cos thats where we ended with government ,an indaba is what will work for arts cos all artists countrywide will be present to give in their submissions for future progress and this is where we should focus the advocacy. 6.Lusaka is not Zambia and music is just a component of art in Zambia. 7.Avoid personal attacks in the media you are simply growing the number of sympathizers for the people you are insulting. 8.Dont use awards for petition it makes petitioners clueless cos world over awards are meant to recognize someone not to better their lives,A nobble peace prize is worthy Prize bro 9.The last petition failed ,have you asked what other associations feel? I might go on and on but believe me the pipo in expensive seats rattle their jewellery whilst the ones in cheaper seats clap loudlyin other words never wrestle with a pig cos dirty is its comfort zone.Lets channel our effort to having the NAC constitution amended cos it has been overtaken by events.By the way the act actually allows chair for a term of 4 years and will be there for as long as they keep winning the elections. Our problems are way heavier than Mulenga Kapwepwe,what we need is a new morality to issues.ONCE AGAIN GUYS STRATEGY!STRATEGY!THE ACT OF 1994 CLEARLY STATES ARTISTS SHALL SPEAK THROUGH THEIR REPS FROM MEMBER ASSOCIATIONS THAT IS KEY AND WHERE THE LOCK TO YOUR ROUND TABLE IS .
