PDP splits, Atiku’s faction elects officers Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and seven governors walked out of Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Convention meeting in Abuja on Saturday. The governors who left with Atiku are those of Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Rivers, Niger, Adamawa, and Kwara. After addressing a press conference on the reasons for their decision, officers were elected to run the affairs of the new faction of the party. Abubakar Baraje was elected Chairman while former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, emerged as Secretary at the parallel convention.
