PF Corruption Alarming, says Mpombo The African Parliamentary Network Against Corruption (APNAC) says it will monitor closely the corruption probe of Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili and fired Tourism Minister Sylvia Masebo. APNAC chairperson Cornelius Mweetwa said he hoped that the probe was not a smokescreen to launder corrupt individuals. Mweetwa said previously highly publicized corruption probes like the Wynter Kabimba case had ended in disappointment as no real investigations took place due the individual being politically connected. Mweetwa said Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba had initially been cleared but was only probed again after falling out with the Patriotic Front. “We do hope that this investigation shall not end up as a smokescreen to clear people perceived to be corrupt. You recall in the case of Wynter Kabimba and GBM where they were investigated but cleared and in another twist GBM was again followed after he resigned as Defence Minister,” he said. “We will follow closely these investigations of honourable Kambwili and Sylvia Masebo.” And People’s Democratic Party president George Mpombo said the number of ministers under corruption probe in the Patriotic Front government is alarming. Mpombo said the numbers of cases was a tip of the iceberg in terms of the levels of corruption in the PF government. zambiareports/2014/04/09/pf-corruption-alarming-says-mpombo/
