PLEASE READ! RICHARDSON GROUND SQUIRREL PLACEMENT SITUATION - YOUR PROMPT ATTENTION NEEDED! LOCATION: CLEVELAND, OHIO. Please help spread the word and feel free to share this announcement in various email communities and social networking channels and contact Gena Seaberg directly by PRIVATE MESSAGE ONLY or BY PHONE AT 425.870.1729 for more details! THANK YOU! Please meet Kermit. He is a yearling, neutered male Richardson Ground Squirrel (RGS) looking for his third and final forever home. After much careful self-reflection and assessment of family needs and what would be best for Kermit, his current caretaker cares for him dearly and feels he’s just not getting the attention and time he surely deserves for a long term, happy, and healthy life. So, we’re reaching out to find him a loving, committed, and knowledgeable forever home that can take the time to give him attention and understands his needs. This is NOT an easy decision and isn’t taken lightly. There is no fee associated with his rehoming, only that he get the best home possible. His accessories, food, and supplies will go with him. This placement will be managed carefully to ensure that his future caretaker(s) are committed, loving, and knowledgeable about what it takes to be his forever home. He has no known health concerns and has not been to the veterinarian for any reason other than his initial veterinary exam and neuter. Behaviorally, Kermit acts like a typical male RGS and is currently busy hoarding food for the upcoming autumn. He needs someone who can spend more time with him one-on-one, to the extent that he enjoys the interaction, and he’ll be an amazing new addition. He’ll easily be able to make considerable positive progress with whoever can patiently follow some basic bonding protocols that I would be happy to help a new owner with to be successful. Anyone taking him can expect a bit of behavioral regression as he adjusts and establishes new bonds with a new caretaker. I can assist with the bonding and gradual integration process with other RGS once a strong caretaker bond is formed, assuming he joins established RGS. Understand that this small regression is normal as he needs to establish trust again and that doesn’t happen overnight. They all go through this process. Additionally, he’s on an ideal diet, but I’m available to partner with a new caretaker concerning any care questions as they arise. He will NOT be placed in a mixed gender RGS home unless under special circumstance where the experience level of the owner warrants and/or where she could be separated if there are a pair of females to be in their own group for two separate groups as rut season approaches (e.g. two caging situations - a male group/female group). Further details can be discussed with interested parties directly. I hope that together we can find Kermit a great home and someone that will adore him and dedicate themselves to making sure he has a happy forever home. Please spread the word and accept my sincere gratitude to all that we can work together to find Kermit new adventures where he will be loved, healthy, and happy!!!!
