PM Douglas Labels Harris a “Back-Stabber” ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++= Written by Ken Richards St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The trading of insults continued this week, when Prime Minister Denzil Douglas blasted his former senior ministers at Thursday’s public meeting of the St Kitts Nevis Labour Party. At the new People’s Labour Party’s first meeting on Wednesday, PLP leader Timothy Harris called for Prime Minister Douglas and his government to be kicked out. Dr. Douglas responded Thursday, accusing his former colleague of being overly ambitious and having a history of trying to unseat the Prime Minister because he, Dr. Harris wanted to head the government. “Two years before the election in 2010 Hamilton and PAM were working closely with Timothy Harris,” Prime Minister Douglas alleged, referring to the opposition Peoples Action Movement and one of its key officials. He suggested that Dr. Harris as a then Senior Government Minister and an integral part of the government had been collaborating with the Opposition. “Timothy, long time wanted to make sure that since I would not hand over the government to him without going to the people first, he want to form he own government with PAM (Peoples Action Movement) and CCM (Concerned Citizens Movement),” Dr. Douglas charged further. Labeling Dr. Harris a “back-stabber”, the Prime Minister said “the man was working against us from inside.” For his part Tourism Minister Ricky Skerritt told the Labour Party meeting that the Peoples Action Movement was trying to disrupt next week’s annual St Kitts Music Festival. PAM had applied to the Police Commissioner for permission to stage a march through the streets of the capital to protest against the prolonged delay in the tabling of a Motion of No Confidence in the Prime Minister and his government – the request was turned down. Minister Skerritt said the opposition party was making a deliberate attempt to create confusion during the festival. Commissioner of Police CG Walwyn has told WINN FM that he has no difficulty granting permission for the march before or after the week of the Music Festival, but has indicated that the Force’s resources will stretched too thin with the large influx of visitors expected for the event. - See more at: winnfm/news/local/4551-pm-douglas-labels-harris-a-back-stabber#sthash.q8XV1hqf.dpuf
