Please NEVER use that name again, its an insult. NEVER and NEVER. This is how it all came about. In 1958 when the United players were returning from Belgrade their plane crashed on take off after a refuelling stop in Munich Germany. 47 players and 14 other passengers died at the scene, However one player by name DUNCAN EDWARDS a defender who is one of the greatest players England has ever had sustained multiple fractures and several kidney damages. Duncan was born 1 October 1936 and later died 21 February 1958, he was a young lad who played in the great manchester united squad referred to as the Busby babes under sir Matt Busby. So after his death the Wesbrom fans referred to Duncan Edwards as manure implying that he is dead, decayed and decomposed in the grave just like manure Later in the course they nick named Our club MANURE which they cut short to MAN-U Mocking Duncan and the whole Busby babes (RIP) Amidst that time our rival clubs such as Liverpool and Leeds also adopted that word and started to use it in their chants. So fellow United fans, NEVER CALL our CLUB that insulting name again. Our club is either Manchester United, Man-United, United or The Red devils.
