POSITION: Employment Consultant TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part- Time Regular LOCATION: Career Coach Mobile Unit REPORTING TO: Co-ordinator, Career Coach START DATE: September 23, 2013 SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, 12pm-4pm SALARY RANGE: 26,000-$ 27,000 a year pro-rated BENEFITS: Yes SUMMARY: The Career Coach, funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada is a mobile resource and career information centre that travels throughout the Brampton, Mississauga and Halton area. The Career Coach provides one on one counselling, personal discovery testing, career goal assessments, resume and interview preparation, labour market information and referrals to programs and services to the Peel/Halton newcomer community. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Work directly with participants to conduct service needs assessments and assist them to develop action plan steps • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and administer and interpret assessments, conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with participants, as well as deliver workshops in the community for newcomers • Provide appropriate referrals to newcomers for further resources and services in their local community • Assist newcomers to use the career and employment resources on board the mobile and other services within the community • Work in consultation with community agencies to ensure that accurate literature on programs and services is available and information is distributed in electronic and/or hardcopy format for participant use • Delivery of workshops on Employment Related Issues, Personality Dimensions, Job Search Strategies, Work Place Health and Safety and others within the Peel/Halton Community • Work closely with industry and agencies to ensure their involvement in the development and delivery of workshops • Soliciting and maintaining up-to-date employment related reference material • Assist in the movement of the mobile from location to location • Participate in community based events on an as needed basis QUALIFICATIONS: • Appropriate post secondary degree, or demonstrated equivalency • Strong interpersonal and communications skills • Sensitivity to and understanding of working in a multicultural environment • Experience in the provision of information and/or service to newcomers and community members • Knowledge of labour market trends, occupations and educational options • Knowledge of the Internet • Experience in the delivery of employment and career related workshops, which may include certification in Personality Dimensions, STRONG, and CAPS/COPES • Knowledge of computerized career and job search tools • Proficiency in software applications (MS Office Suite) and the Internet • Excellent coaching skills and experience providing employment counselling • Driver’s license and car necessary • A second language would be an asset To apply: Please submit your covering letter and resume to Human Resource Department Via Email: hrforms@tcet By Friday September 13, 2013 by 4:00 pm *All external applicants please quote: 2013-QCIC-057 2 EXT in subject line.
