PRESS STATEMENT. 19th September 2014. LETS ALL SUPPORT NANA ADDO; HE WILL MAKE A GOOD PRESIDENT. Our Party, the New Patriotic Party is scheduled to elect our Presidential Candidate on the 18th October 2014. This exercise is the most important activity in the Partys organisational calender. It is important because the process will produce the arrowhead of the Party for the 2016 general elections. I am confident that we will go through this last hurdle successfully and come out stronger. I have worked for Nana Addo since 1998. He was my choice over former President Kufuor and the rest in Sunyani. In all our intra -Party contest to select our Presidential candidates, I have always supported Nana Addo. Today, I reaffirm my support for his bid. I do so because in my opinion, he remains our Partys strongest bet for the upcoming crucial general elections. Nana Addo has shown without a shred of doubt that he understands our Party, the country, the people and the politics. He is a thorough traditional NPP man and has deeper understanding of the workings of the Party. Nobody can take this away from him. As a long time activist and advocate for democratic governance and the rule of law, Nana spent most of his active life leading the struggle for freedom of speech, association, good governance and economic emancipation. Working with other other believers of socio-economic justice, Nana spearheaded the effort to democratise our country. He is genuine, uncorrupted, deligent and indefatigable. I believe he is the most suitable person to lead the Party and our struggle to resume power. He stands a good chance as his popularity has increased tremendously. In every nook and cranny of the country, Nanas name has become a household one. In our markets, schools, social centres, etc Nanas bid is being debated by not only our members but the NDC membership. This is a brand we must unveil on the 18th October to concretise our efforts to deliver a fantastic victory in 2014. The decision of the Special Delegates last month in which Nana topped the seven man contest with over 80% of the votes cast is a clear indication that our Party still believe Nana is the most appropriate person to hold our flag into the 2016 contest. I expect a massive win for Nana Addo. It will be a win for our Party and the country. A win to set the stage to mobilize the Ghanaian people to reject the clear incompetence of the NDC government. A win to reconnect with the poor, the unemployed, the vulnerable and the entire people who have lost total confidence in the current government. The NPP is the only source of hope for the people and Nana Addo remains the bedrock of that hope. He will hold the NDCs feet to the fire. The economy is completely derided. Government has failed monumentally to lead credibly; thus every sector of the economy is in total shambles. We need a visionary leader who can marshall forces to revive the economy; a leader who is decisive, proactive and has the enthusiasm for the job; a leader who can rally the people in difficult times and not abandon them; a leader who is genuinely honest and will supervise a transparent government and deliver a system to check the corrupt practices witnessed in the current government; a leader with great conviction and clarity in his believe for our country. That leader is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. On this note therefore, I urge all NPP members and the Ghanaian public to support the bid of Nana Addo in the larger interest of our country. We must all show our determination that we are in for business by electing Nana Addo to send the clearest messsge to the NDC that we will defeat them and fix the broken country. As we approach October 18th, I call on all our members and supporters to conduct ourselves well; in a spirit of brotherliness and mutual respect. We must demonstrate to the non NPP voters that we are discipline, tolerant and capable. We must not do anything to hurt our great Party. Lets all of us be guided by what binds us together. An NPP victory is our common goal and we must all work to it. We might differ in our preferences for who become our Flagbearer but we all agree that our Party is the only viable alternative to the corrupt ladden government of the NDC. I wish all the aspirants well and Allahs protection as they tour the length and breadth of the country to campaign. Signed Musah Superior Special Assistant to NPP General Secretary.
