Pakistan-born leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed named an Australian citizen and therefore available for Ashes selection. This guy has absolutely no connection with Australia other than its a nice place to live and he is a refugee from the Taliban. I have no issue with Australia taking in refugees, they have the space after all, but to then allow them to represent them as Australians in sport is fundamentally wrong. Surely its time the terms of qualification in all sports were tightened up. I am reminded of the cricketer Ed Joyce. Irish; played for Ireland. Then qualified for and played for England for a few years. Then lost his place so qualified again and went back to play for Ireland. Even Google is confused it has articles that name him as an Irish cricketer and others that name him as and English cricketer.
