Palanivel to discuss haze in Indonesia Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri G. Palanivel said he will meet his Indonesian counterpart to discuss solutions to the haze problem affecting the country every year because of forest fires in Sumatera, Indonesia. He said he would make a trip to Sumatera next month or in September for the meeting to find a permanent solution to the haze problem. “It’s hard for us to control the haze problem as the source is open burning in Sumatera,” he said, adding that open burning and peat fire cases in Malaysia were under control and not major contributors to the haze problem. “The air quality has improved as it has been raining every day, but my concern is that we may be hit by the haze again,” - (ADMIN)
