Panhandle Equine Rescue is in full swing with our Fall Fundraiser. We are participating in the Belk Charity Sale this year and this will be our MAJOR fundraiser to get us through the winter months. Many of you are familiar with this popular event hosted by Belk’s, who contributes to non-profits twice a year by holding this special sale that only participants who have a ticket can enter into their store. This year the sale will be held on November 8th, 2014 from 6 AM to 10 AM. Tickets to enter the store are $5.00. That same ticket may be used towards your first purchase; getting you $5.00 off on top of the huge mark downs they will have throughout the store. If shoppers cannot shop on that Saturday, November 8th, they may pre-select their merchandise beginning Sunday, November 2nd. Free Belk Gift cards up to $1000.00 will be given to the first 100 customers in each store on November 8th. 20% to 70% storewide, including special savings on rarely discounted brands. It will be a perfect time to get in some early Christmas shopping. In addition, Belk’s will offer a Continental Breakfast to all shoppers that morning! We are looking at purchasing winter hay in the near future. Hay is very costly this year and we currently have 18 horses in foster care. Times are especially tough right now. Adoptions are down and horses are even being returned to PER because adoptive families simply cannot afford to maintain the animals. Because PER makes a commitment to an animal for life, we do not turn them away. In addition to hay, PER assumes all other expenses for horses in foster care, as well as for those who are being rehabilitated at our facility. Funding is needed for us to carry on our work of saving horses, one life at a time. With the winter months coming, there will be horses out there depending on PER for their survival. A good example of a horse that was in need, is pictured here. Ebony would have been euthanized, if PER did not step up to give her the special care to get her back into health. Just look at the after picture of her! We cannot help horses like Ebony without your support. We must have help from the community. If you are not a shopper, that is okay. We are asking all supporters of PER to take 10 tickets with a donation of $50.00. They can sell the tickets to get their money back or give them as gifts. This will be your way of contributing this year. We can send you a tax deductible receipt along with your 10 tickets. Donations can be sent to PER, P.O. Box 777, Cantonment, FL. 32533. We will mail you the tickets and send you all the information you need to help in selling the tickets to recoup your money. If you can’t afford $50.00, we understand. If you want to purchase a ticket for yourself or even add a friend or family member that can accompany you to this huge event, this will be a great way to support your favorite charity! Thank you, in advance for doing your part to help us to help the horses.
