Pardon me for sharing a blog :) It all started with this... I took a day off from work today aside from feeling little bit sick due to weather, just to clean my room aka man cave. Back when I was in 3rd year HS, my mama gave me a toy present on my birthday which was an inexpensive plastic bigbike, it says P199.75 on the price tag. I expressed my gratitude to her, and told her I was too big for this stuff. She told me I barely had any toys left from my childhood and I had rarely received toys from them except on Christmases and my birthdays. My tears began to flow and I just said Thanks mama, Ill keep and cherish this and will pass it on to your future grandson. I just hugged her tight and realized it was true. In my childhood, playing with my friends was so simple yet fun. We used to play syato, taguampung, teks, rubber bands, tautauhan, luksong baka, jolens, patintero, piko, and so on. Then came the electronic gadgets in the 80s, those traditional pinoy games started to die down. Only the affluent kids on the block can afford to play the Ataris, Nintendos, Voltes V, Daimos, Game & Watch, etc. Yeah I played those in my childhood but never got hold of them since my parents would rather buy necessities than those gadgets and toys. So I promised myself, Id find those and pick them once I started making a living on my own. I started collecting toys in early 2000s when I was still a neophyte engineer from a real estate developer. I made sure that I allotted a small amount to treat myself for a new toy or gadget every month. It doesnt matter how cheap or expensive it is as long as it made me happy. I also thought my collections wouldnt only be mine, but for my future kids as well to enjoy and hopefully treasure. Up to now, I never halted collecting and picking stuff as long as tickles my fancy and it interests me. I refuse to call it addiction or deprivation, I just call it passion. Thanks to my mama Anita for that wonderful toy present. For me its priceless and the most valuable collection I have. I love you and I miss you mama...
