Parent Summit Save the date. U-46 will be hosting a Parent Summit on August 23 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Larkin High School to educate area parents of elementary school students on how to fully engage and participate in their child’s education. The event will offer several workshops in English and Spanish on topics like early childhood education, STEM, AVID, bullying, PBIS, and transitioning to middle school. Dr. Lourdes Ferrer will be the special keynote speaker. Dr. Ferrer is an education consultant, researcher, program developer, motivational speaker and author who works with school districts to improve the academic achievement of all students. She specializes in helping districts close the achievement gap through parental empowerment. Community partners will host booths to provide families with information about area resources.
