Parental Alienation Syndrome: a very real and very scary thing. I see it happen every day. I live it every minute of every hour. Children are forced to make decisions that parents should make. The children are forced to choose sides and are told that if they dont make The right choice bad things will happen. They are made to feel guilty about their choices if their choices dont coincide with the alienating parents views. The children arent allowed to call the other parent at will. They are forced to adhere to super strict, often times, reduced and limited visitations. They arent allowed the freedom to speak their mind for fear of being reprimanded or hurting the alienating parents feelings. More often than not, the alienation is done out of retaliation on the other parent. Snyde comments are made to the child to make them feel guilty or to make them feel as if the other parent doesnt care. Biological and step parents/significant others are both able to be alienatiors. The children suffer in silence, most of the time feeling like nothing more than a pawn in an evil game of chess. Parental Alienation Syndrome hurts. It ruins lives and relationships. It can and often times causes irreparable damage that can take decades to overcome, IF it can be overcome at all. If you arent aware of this growing crisis, please look it up. If you see it happening, step up and intervene on the childrens behalf. Save a child from the impending wreckage. And NEVER let it happen to your child/step child. Be their advocate. Save their life. Yes. It can be a life or death situation.
