Parents at a Powell County elementary school are growing more - TopicsExpress

Parents at a Powell County elementary school are growing more concerned as bats continue to be spotted inside the building.Bats were first spotted at Stanton Elementary about a month ago. Officials thought they had the issue taken care of, but say with fall activities starting up, the unwelcome guests managed to make their way back in.We have had probably, I think, three to four has been the most. And they have been in different locations in the building, said superintendent Michael Tate. While those numbers arent large, it is enough to worry parents who are aware of the diseases bats can carry, which is why attendance dropped on Wednesday. But Powell County schools superintendent assures that the students are safe, and that they are doing everything they can to fix the issue. We have a company out of Lexington Animal Control that is coming in and checking holes or anything in and around the school where bats can be coming in, Tate said.
